We designed and hand made The Hotel ourselves.
Its templelike appearance is not an expensive accident. Since turtles
are sensitive to light, there are no ocean views to the south where the
nesting beach is located. The structure is intended to block light from
any future development to the north. 
Our ten rooms with private, hot water bathrooms are climate controlled spaces for resting up for the next nature excursion. We have several rooms with cross ventilation if air conditioning is not your preference. The indoor dining room is surrounded by ocean-front, open air and roofed decks. In addition to the buffer zones of native flora, our gardens will delight you with beautiful flowers and tropical plants.
Every day is a beach day and sun
screens are a must. Our climate is unique in the world. The sun shines brightly
320 days a year while the humidity hovers around zero during the dry season.You
may have never seen the sky until you've seen it here. The sunrises and
sunsets are dances of moving color. At night there is no light pollution,
and the clear, desert air bathes the planet in a brilliant starscape. Romance
is not far away.
Hotel Las Tortugas is a model for sustainable development.
The center fulfills a variety of functions and roles. We fund and manage
projects like shielding the street lights across the bay at Tamarindo. We
also promote the sanctuary in the public and private sector and serve as
its information center.
Our staff and guests are watch dogs for the wildlife area. We helped bring the local communities together, not only in an economic sense, but also educationally through their jobs and through community work. Our entire staff is from this area. We are eager to answer your questions and to help you enjoy the park and hotel in any way we can.
We use biodegradable and recycled products
when available. We recycle everything we can from garden water to plastics.
We grow some of our own fruit, like the lemons for our Margaritas. The building
itself is energy efficient. We can also arrange house and apartment rentals
in Playa Grande if you need a kitchen or plan an extended stay.
Prices range from $40 to $69 (+ tax) depending on the
season. You may also contact us for special packages
and family suites at slightly higher prices. We have telephone and Fax service.
